Lossiemouth

We had done a quick plan and nothing really difficult arose. It was a quick straight line paddle across the Moray Firth brilliant. A small tail wind was the weather and some misty rain and fog in the distance would stop us paddling on a visual.
The usual launch and not 20 minutes in there was a whale. Wow. It took us both by suprise. It was about 5 meters away. Holy plop. Would it capsize us? We quickly got closer to one another and the water surface surrounding us went flat and calm. The Whale had passed right underneath. Talk about a close encounter.
With smiles on our faces we carried on, and on. This was about 27nm and we actually made good time landing in Lossiemouth harbour and with a quick chat to someone we had access to a shower. Wow that was really welcome as I hadn’t had one since Thurso. The good thing with Reed kit is it doesn’t stink. I think that’s a god send on an expedition.
